20th November 2005 - Gateshead Supporters ‘Ghoulden’ Gesture!

Continuing their pledge to support worthy causes, supporters of Gateshead Football Club displayed their generous side again with a donation in excess of £500 to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, following a charity Halloween Party at The A1 Allerdene Social Club.

Thanks to the efforts of Gateshead Supporters Club Committee and The A1 Allerdene Club, a great night was had by all who attended, with raffle prizes donated by local companies, Gateshead FC and the supporters themselves, up for grabs, as well as superb entertainment from local singer, The Gorgeous Laura Mac.

Following a conscious decision at the start of the season to raise funds for worthwhile causes, Gateshead FC Supporters Club were looking for a group to be the second recipient from their Community Fund. It was decided that The Cystic Fibrosis Trust would be next to benefit, after Supporters Club Chairman, Peter Storey, saw a television documentary highlighting the effects of the disease.

The Trust, which was founded in 1964, works to improve the lives of people with Cystic Fibrosis, as well as raise the profile of the genetic disease and fund research into a cure. Pat Kilpatrick (pictured), Regional Fundraising Manager for the Trust, was on hand at the recent Gateshead v Kidsgrove Athletic match to gratefully receive a cheque for £500, plus two collection boxes, as well as discuss the possibility of future fundraising events with Gateshead FC Chairman, Derek Bell. One event currently being planned for next Spring, is a sponsored parachute jump by Mickey Barrass, Supporters Club Vice-Chairman and wannabe stuntman!
